The Corporate Immigration Index helps consumers track which companies fund U.S. politicians and where they stand on humane immigration. It empowers shoppers to make informed choices and pressures businesses to act. The Index is a tool to guide consumers, push companies toward accountability, and urge policymakers to take meaningful action on humane immigration and reform.

Methodology
Progressive Shopper worked to define a range using Congressional voting data on immigration compiled by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and corporate donation data from Open Secrets. Our formula assigns a score to each member of Congress based on their voting record. It then compiles the scores of every Congressperson a company donated to, and grades the company based on the proportion of money that went to pro- or anti-humane immigration politicians.
Using the OpenSecrets and ACLU Scores, we define the donation range and stance of US politicians towards immigration and immigrant rights. Below is an overview of how we captured each source of data.
| Range | OPENsecrets | ACLU SCORE |
|---|---|---|
| Low | $<10,000 | <=39% |
| Medium | $ 10,000 – $149,999 | 40%-69% |
| High | $150,000 | ≥70% |

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
- What is the goal of the Corporate Immigration Index?
We aim to promote transparency and inform the general public, ultimately influencing the decision-making of consumers, companies, and policymakers by shedding light on both politicians and companies that support inhumane immigration policies. In doing so, we hope to encourage both companies and policymakers to support humane immigration policy and progressive reform to the U.S. immigration system. - What does a company have to do to shift from orange to green?
A company must double/increases its political donations from anti to pro-humane immigration policy makers. If you feel that we’ve mispresented your company’s data in any way, let us know, and we’ll work to review it again (info@progressiveshopper.com). - How often is the Index updated?
We aim to update this quarterly and are actively trying to expand our growing list of () companies daily. This page was last updated () - Are there any other groups working on this topic?
Yes. Our third-party sources, Open Secrets and the American Civil Liberties Union, are a good way to start.
